Benedictus de Spinoza (Baruch Spinoza) was a Dutch philosopher
of Sephardi Portuguese origin.
He laid the groundwork for the 18th-century Enlightenment and is
considered to be one of the great 17th-century philosophers.
His best-known works: Theologico-Political Treatise and Ethics.
Descartes was born in France and lived there until he was about 28.
However, he spent more than twenty years in the Dutch Republic and wrote all of his major works there.
